General Client Setup and Support FAQ

• Some 3rd Party (custom maps) are usually the cause of this, ut4_noobjumps and ut4_village seems to cause this but there can also be others. So try removing a couple at a time till the textures come back. Then just add the last couple that you removed when it worked, then just remove one at a time till they come back again. Then you will know which is causeing, then post it at http://forums.urbanterror.net/index.php/topic,8047.0.html so we all will know that that map causes problems.

• Could be caused by the previous faq, but if the map is ut_ or known to have been made for earlier versions of urban terror, they may have missing textures as they need to be updated for 4.1 by there original authors. (Do not try updating a map with out the original authors permission or you will be tared and feathered.)

• OpenGL resolution error (if you got an openGL error only after changing your resolution to a high resolution)
  •    Fix1: open to your q3ut4 folder and delete q3config.cfg and try starting the game again. The game should create a new q3config.cfg with default settings.
    • common locations:
      •         Linux: ~./q3a/q3ut4/ (/home/yourname/.q3a/q3ut4 make sure to enable showing of hidden dirs to find it)
      •         Windows: /q3ut4/ (example: C:\Program Files\UrbanTerror\q3ut4\)
      •         OSX: /yourname/Library/Application Support/Quake3/q3ut4/
  • Fix2: If you have a shortcut on your desktop for urban terror, right click and goto properties. Next add +set r_mode 4 at the end of the Target. after the last ". Now when you launch your game it should load properly.
  • Fix3: Open q3config.cfg in notepad and remove r_mode from it and File>save. now when you load the game it should open in default resolution.  (if you have alot in your config file, you can goto edit>find and type r_mode and it will take you right to it)

• GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem

•  C:\Users\.yourname.\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\UrbanTerror\q3ut4\ (this is a hidden directory, so enable those in the folder options).

• Possible fix1: (with dual-core processor may also work with quad)start up urban terror, alt-tab or windows key out of the game, then open up task manager. goto processes tab and right-click on iourbanterror.exe goto set affinity and uncheck one of the cores so that you only have 1 core checkmarked. This game was not designed to work well with multicore.

• Possible Fix2: Lower your graphics settings in game and resolution and see if it helps.

• Possible Fix 3: If you have nvidia, open control panel, disable Anti-aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering, and threaded optimazation off. Also could try setting Multi-display/Mixed GPU acceleration to single display performance.

• Possible Fix 4: (dual-core w/windows) This is basically fix 1, but a way to get it to automaticaly do it everytime you start up urban terror. so you dont have to manually set it everytime.

• Download this pack here , extract it and follow the readme to install it. (btw you can edit the .bat file to make it start it on the 1st core instead of the 2nd core, just change the 1 at the end of startaffinity.exe "ioUrbanTerror.exe +set com_hunkmegs 256" 1 to 0 and it will start it on only the first core, so it would look like this.. startaffinity.exe "ioUrbanTerror.exe +set com_hunkmegs 256" 0)

• Bots are not a supported feature of urban terror, Meaning that if you have a problem, they will not help you with it. The bot system is just leftover code. So if you find it crashing your server or game. Sorry cant help.

• Goto http://forums.urbanterror.net/index.php/board,4.0.html, click search at the top to search for your question, dont use the search thing on the right, its broken. If you still cant find an answer then post your question.
• Why cant see my server in the server list?
  • If you create a server on your pc, you will only see it in the local list, not the internet list.
  • If you cant see it in the local list, try /connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (replace the x's with your pc's ip) if it still doesnt work, then goto the link above and see if you can find something that helps you.(remember to search first, then post)

• You can download funstuff from this site, click funstuff in the main menu on the leftside of this site.

• list of 3rd Party Commands funstuff commands are accessable from the menu on the left side of this site, just above downloads.
• To install, just download the funstuff pk3 you want and copy paste it into your q3ut4 folder, thats it!
• In order for the funstuff to work in a public server is if the server has the funstuff installed and in order for others to see it, they too must have it installed.
